Date:
Sunday, January 29, 2012

Time:
The trails at Wild Wings open at 9:00 a.m., so you can arrive anytime after 8:45 a.m. This is not a timed event: skiers (or snowshoers) can start whenever they want on Sunday and ski for as long as they want. There is a warming hut in which light refreshments and hot drinks will be served or you can warm up by the woodstove.

Cost:
Wild Wings has generously donated the use of its trails that day for Ski for Heat participants, so there is no trail fee with your registration/donation for the event.

Format:
Skiers and snowshoers can ski for as long or as far as they want on Sunday. Those participants who have gathered pledges based on a per-mile-skied basis are responsible for keeping tabs of the number of miles they have skied. Assistance with calculating the distances will be available at the warming hut. Skiers who have collected or been pledged set dollar amounts may still want to note how far they have skied, as there may be a prize given to the person who has logged the most miles.

Who Particpates:
We've had 5-year-olds out raising money alongside of those with a few more decades of experience added to that age! And they come from everywhere, from right next door to a few states away; they range in ability from first-timers to seasoned veterans. In other words, everyone is encouraged to (and does!) join in the fun while helping such a worthwhile cause. The trails at Wild Wings accommodate skiers of all levels, from beginners to experts! Families, individuals, ski teams, and school groups are all welcome.

Comforts:
There is a warming hut with a woodstove where you stash your gear, take a break, grab some fuel, and try some of Tracy's homemade soup and goodies.

Closing Ceremony:
Because skiers come and go according to their own schedules and wishes, there is not an official start or end time. As such, there is no "closing ceremony." Participants who have earned a prize will have their gifts sent or delivered to them.

More Information:
See our FAQ page for more information. Or feel free to contact Martha Robertson, event creator, with your inquiries.

There's hearty homemade soup, freshly baked treats, a toasty fire, and good cheer in Wild Wings'
